The Uplift music video

Time for some anemic rock n roll.

New album is just around the corner, so here's something for you DONDELINGERS out there!

tiistai 8. joulukuuta 2015

A quick update on things.

New full-length album will come out on 19.1.2016. It will be quite a confusing listen, but isn't that the whole point of Charming Timur in the first place? No it's not. Yes it is. No. Yes. Maybe.
A new music video will be out prior to that, because for the first time, I'm doing things in the right order.

Golden Ticket

I'm so tired of losing all my money to gambling lol I gotta try to start saving some money in the future. What a destructive habbit...

Anyway this won't slow down the new album production, it will just make me feel like hitting my head against a wall lol... At least I know how to laugh at myself, that's a good thing. Seriousness never got anyone anywhere.

And then:
The tempo is a bit faster (than the average 100bpm which Charming Timur usually uses) on most of the songs I've written so far for the new album. Maybe I'll be able to post something up soon.

I forgot to post this earlier.

Guess which letter to click and find the link to the SBS podcast where I'm interviewed and I sound like I'm 14. It's actually a pretty podcast nonetheless. I really liked the band called Aztec that they played in the beginning. "What does that have to do with anything?" You might ask. "Nothing at all." I would reply.

Charming Timur was interviewed shortly, while taking a shower by some kind of a religious spirit:

How would you describe your process of making the new album?

- So far so good

That concludes that interview. Thanks!

Another topic that is on my mind a little, is why do PR-companies ignore my emails... I completely understand if a label or something like that ignores my emails, or any other artists' for that matter, but PR-companies are customer service and they are paid for their service, so I just absolutely can't grasp why on earth wouldn't they want more customers... What a bunch of elitist commies, not contributing to the free market in an open and productive way. "Oh this band is too unknown, so I'm just not gonna even write a reply, because I'm dumb. Not good enough for my time."
I thought money makes things work, but now you also gotta have some kind of social status too? What the fuck... Or maybe they don't believe I'd pay them? Serious trust issues over there! Okay well let's be a little less dramatic here: They're probably just busy with their current clients.

None the less, this applies:
In what business do grown men and women behave like a bunch of kids?
Thats right!: The music business!

lol I've actually contacted just a couple of places...

Update babble

I'm writing some new stuff, dunno how it will turn out. So far so good though. Also looking at PR companies and stuff like that. Charming Timur always wants more, he ain't gonna stop.
I talked about Funhouse and some other stuff with my pal Jer and that turned into an actual recorded interview, which will be out someday somewhere on a podcast of some sort. I wish I knew what a podcast even is... Just kidding, I know what it is! Well at least I have some idea what it might be...

Party hard, no retards. Over and out.

FUNHOUSE EP

Yes. Here's something for you guys to listen: https://charmingtimur.bandcamp.com/album/funhouse-ep

It's always fun in the Funhouse, that's for sure. Of course since this is Charming Timur, it's a concentrated megadose of concentration camp fun and even a pumpkin!

For those of you who enjoyed the track "Illness", you will hopefully enjoy this stuff too.

Whitewater Orgasm fans will enjoy this one too, even though it's not (all that) noisy.

Not that much new info...

Finally got myself to do at least SOMETHING. The new full-length will have some new cool drum sounds.
The EP will likely have some super simple noisy distorted drums, because it will be totally different. The EP might actually come out pretty soon, since I'll be making that first. It's going to be one of those "side-releases" I'll be making more in the future. The kind of stuff that won't fit on a full-length album and which I don't feel like spending money on. It doesn't necessarily mean they won't have any listening value though. That's up to all of you to decide!

yayoyu

I might start up doing new music soon. So much stuff in my head that needs to come out in songform.
It's all a matter of installing all kinds of required stuff on my new computer, and I'm feeling really lazy about all that. And setting up my recording equipment... That's all in boxes now.
YES VERY INTERESTING, I KNOW, RIGHT?!

Anyway the upcoming audio-beast-madness will be one hell of a "What the fuck" mixed with lots of "Fuck you" and occasionally something else. It will sort of complete a "trilogy" consisting of the first three Charming Timur albums. After that, there will be EVEN MORE Charming Timur albums coming though. Hopefully! Anyway they will be quite possibly more unique, while the first three sort of have similar themes and atmospheres.

Musical Talent and Skill. Does Charming Timur have/NEED any?

I seem to be the only one asking myself this question. Am I actually talented? Do I have incredible musical skills? I have no idea! lol. I feel that those things are not the most important part of making music. I don't even consider myself a MUSICIAN. I see myself as a composer, more of a "Musical Architect". I just create things. Compositions. Musical structures of different shape and material.

Most of the bands and artists nowadays (and even more in the past) thought that making music is about playing music really well, and that if you're not a virtuoso at  your instrument, you don't deserve to be making music. I hope more people will dare to express themselves musically, especially now that we have all the modern technology to help us make music. I've discussed with quite a lot of people about how they wish they could make music, but they just "can't play any instrument". They could of course take lessons or something, or they could just look into just experimenting by themselves with some intrument, and just making whatever sound that they feel that sound good, and then record them. Whether someone else likes the outcome or not is not important. Do what you like, people!

Of course it's useful to know at least some basics of the instrument you're playing, don't get me wrong about that! But I think music shouldn't be only about how well you play, it should be about what you want to express. If you don't have the skills to express yourself in a certain way, you might find another way to do it, which wouldn't necessarily be of any less value.

I only took about 5 guitar lessons in my entire life. I did take singing lessons for like 4 years though, but my throat is kinda fucked up so sometimes it feels like it doesn't help at all, lol. So basically I just tried stuff out with my guitar, synth, synth-programs and drum-machine-program, until my ears started to pick up what sounds go together and what sounds don't.
I do see this all as a journey that never ends, or like a game with endless new levels to reach, so I'm going to try to get better and better.

As a final note, I started my "musical career" doing Harsh Noise / Power Electronics. So yeah my approach to making music might be explained by that a little. My noise project (Whitewater Orgasm) is still active, but I focus more on Charming Timur at the moment. I don't like to play favourites with the musical projects that I have, but I can't do them all at the exact same time.

Why did I write all this? I have no idea... Just felt like sharing. Thanks for reading!

Jumpdafuckup like always

Sharing my plans for Charming Timur:

Next up will be the third full-length album, whenever it's going to happen.
Possibly approximately at the same time, I will release a 3-4 EP. It might actually come before the full-length. And the most fun part of all will be that the EP will very likely have much worse sound quality, and I might not even promote it AT ALL. I'll see.

Anyway after all this, I will be occasionally releasing EPs/weird-stuff in between the full-lengths, because I have some ideas that just don't fit a whole LP, but might as well be out there along with the rest of my material.

Genres will be mixed awkwardly to ruin everybody's fun.

I am considering making some MERCH to come along the third LP. Maybe I could also release a vinyl in the future? That would be nice hipster waste of money.

Have a good day everyone!

I ran out of Bandcamp download credits overnight

Yeah so Bandcamp only gives like 200 downloads a month, and that's not very much, but I bought some more now. Apparently when I'm out of credits, the digital download costs 7 euros. I hope that didn't scare anyone away lol.

I have also created a safety measure to combat this problem in the future. So yeah if the album download costs something someday, just use this link: http://uploaded.net/file/r79xdx9c
You can download For The Duration Of Psychiatric Treatment from that link for free.

Here's the exact same thing, but from MEDIAFIRE

Everybody loves mediafire.

Promoting myself makes me feel sick.

At least the type of promotion that artists usually go through. Contacting all kinds of shithole magazines to get mentioned or reviewed and posting about their material around the internet. Of course some of that stuff can be great, but most of it is not.

I did hire a PR company though, and they did a nice job, but I feel like even that is not leading to the results I want. Maybe next time I'll just hire a bigger one. All I've really come to realize is that promoting myself, BY MYSELF, DOING SHIT LIKE THAT BY MYSELF, is SHIT.

But being a musician is hard work!! You have to be humble and work hard and play as many local shows as you can!!  - faggot

Well fuck that. I don't want to be humble and I sure as hell hate hard work. Playing live shows that require like 4-5 people is not very realistic for just one man. I couldn't care less about playing live anyway. I guess I'm too "cyber" for that, lol.

I think all drugs should be legalized.

What genre is Charming Timur?

What genre is Charming Timur?

It's really one of those questions that I don't really have the perfect answer for. I tried to "market" it as a combination of nu metal and post-black metal, since that's kinda what it is on most of the tracks so far. Jumpdafuckup riffs with tremolo-picked melody guitar mixed together. But then there's the occasional moments when it's so messy and slow it's more like sludge and maybe even drone-doom... And let's not forget the "autotuned-highpitch-vocal choruses" that are sometimes quite POP instead of really anykind of metal whatsoever. And then I've taken influences from shoegaze and post-punk, which will probably get more attention on the future releases. There's probably more that I should mention, but I forget... Oh yeah and I also actually had some material with some stoner rock influence, but I scrapped that stuff and never made it public to anyone.

It feels like whoever I present this music to, it's never easy to explain and people often get huge misconceptions that somehow "it's not intentional" that the music doesn't sound "enough" like a certain genre that I mentioned. Of course I should just come up with better ways to explain my music, but it's also a bit dissapointing that when certain people hear new kind of music, they assume that nobody intended it to sound unique at all and it must be a mistake lol. Anyway those people are a rare occurrence, but I felt like mentioning that kind of pointless crap here makes this paragraph look longer.

Maybe I should just start calling this stuff Musical-Disaster or something.

I appreciate all the people listening to Charming Timur. Thanks all!

I'll try to be more active

Yeah so people only like the artists/bands nowadays that interact with their fans/listeners/people who care on some level. I understand that, but also FUCK THAT. If I want to lie in bed for a month or two, then I'll probably do just that. Lol

Now to something else:

Some reviews that I think I should link here, because I CAN. nabis

THEMETALREVIEW

THEDRAINAGE

GLACIALLYMUSICAL

JAMSPHERE

I know there's a ton more reviews out there, but I'm lazy.

P.S. I'll start writing some new stuff (hopefully) in a couple of months.

You Are Next (music video)

A nice day for kidnapping and torture and murder and God knows what else:

Yeah so this is the official video for the second track from the album For The Duration Of Psychiatric Treatment.

Once again my DIY spirit lead to results. This was all made by me with the occasional help of some creep named Leo.
